On This Day - 1940 - 13th The Luftwaffe launched "Adler Tag" or "Eagle Day", the start of intended mass attacks which would knock out the RAF.

On This Day

On This Day - 1941 - The Flying Tigers, American pilots in China, enter combat against the Japanese over Kunming.


On the same day German forces of Army Group Centre retreating from Moscow reached a new defensive line, more than 100km to the west, where, following strict orders by Hitler, they are to stand and fight off any further Soviet advances.

On This Day - 1935 - The Prototype Hawker Hurricane made it's maiden flight. It was the first RAF monoplane with enclosed cockpit, eight guns and retractable landing gear and the first to exceed 300mph.

On this day - 1940 - The P-51 Mustang makes it's maiden flight.

In my opinion it change the balance of scales into the Allies favor.
